About this speaker

Dr. Weiss is a consultant in anesthesiology and intensive care medicine in the Department for Anesthesiology and Operative Intensive Care Medicine at Charité Universitätsmedizin Berlin, Germany. He graduated from Philipps-University in Marburg with a medical degree and completed his MD thesis on T-helper cell dynamics in a murine model of chronic, allergic airway diseases. He began his training at Charité in 2010 and participated in the innovation alliance for Berlin and Brandenburg (INABBRA) program. Besides his clinical work he participated as a delegate in the German guidelines for delirium, analgesia and sedation (DAS-guideline) and was part of the advisory board of the European Society of Anesthesiology’s (ESA) guideline on delirium. His research interests are long-term outcomes after intensive care, delirium, and the use of sedatives in critically ill patients and is co-investigator in clinical trials. He is chair of the European Society for Intensive Care Medicine (ESICM)’s NEXT committee and part of the ESICM’s executive committee. Since 2017 he is coordinating the ERIC eHealth project at the Charité.
