About this speaker

A native Chicagoan (Go Sox!), Dr. Miles Ellenby holds a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Illinois. He graduated from the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine in 1991, trained in Pediatrics at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, and in Pediatric Critical Care at the joint UC San Francisco – Children’s Hospital of Oakland program. He followed Scottie Pippen to Portland in 2000 and has been a faculty member at OHSU ever since, currently as a Professor of Pediatric Critical Care Medicine as well as serving as the Medical Director of OHSU’s Telehealth Services.

Dr. Ellenby’s engineering background has informed his work in cardiovascular monitoring, complex systems analysis, and telemedicine. He is the Medical Director for OHSU’s Telehealth Services, which allow for remote consultation on patients throughout the region using advanced telecommunication technology. He serves on Oregon’s Broadband Advisory Council and is involved in statewide initiatives focused on expanding Telehealth. He additionally serves as the Medical Director for OHSU Global’s SE Asia Children’s Projects focused in Thailand.

In his free time, Dr. Ellenby enjoys music, the outdoors, basketball and spending time with his family (not necessarily in that order).
